Weightlifter Ele Opeloge originally placed fourth in the, 75kgs and above, women's super heavyweight division, in Beijing.

But a review of test samples in August found silver medallist, Olha Korobka from Ukraine, and bronze medallist, Mariya Grabovetskaya from Kazakhstan both tested positive for banned substances.

Tuaopepe Vui Asiata Jerry Wallwork, who also coached weightlifter Ele Opeloge at the Beijing Games in 2008, said while the silver medal was welcome he felt she has had her glory stolen from her.

"It is our first ever Olympic Medal and the first ever medal from a female from the Pacific at the Olympic Games. So for us in Samoa it is a great achievement and for Ele Opeloge she deserves a celebration and I want for the country along with our National Olympic Committee will have something to honor and present her medal in the proper way," Tuaopepe Vui Asiata Jerry Wallwork said.

Mauga told a Cabinet meeting that the flow and spread of drugs in the territory is a concern to himself and traditional leaders because it is affecting the youth.

He referred to the drug problem as a silent killer in the community and said if we avoid the issue or sweep it under the rug, the consequences will be serious.

Mauga said not a week goes by without an incident involving drugs being reported.

"Drug paraphernalia and military guns, we must resist the presences of these things in our lives," he said.

"We must weave together in faith the kind of strong family and communal bonds that can withstand the power and fear they may hold over us."

Mauga said dealing with the drug problem is not a task just for the police, Government department or the Governor and Lt Governor and the problem also needs action from families and village leaders.

Across the water in Samoa, the presence of drugs was also raised in the Christmas Day message of Samoa's Head of State, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi.
